Help Keep Congress Blue through your contribution

F.A.Q.

1. What is the focus of Blue Catapult PAC?

Blue Catapult is a Political Action Committee that focuses on directing campaign funds to Democratic candidates for federal office who are either challenging Republican incumbents or are running for open seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, or are freshmen defending their seats for the first time.

2. Why is a Political Action Committee necessary to accomplish this?

So more people can affect more races.  Through Blue Catapult, those who want to contribute to support many Democratic challengers and freshmen, but don't have the savings to bankroll dozens of contributions, can donate to Blue Catapult and thus help many more Democrats and maximizes results across the country.

3. Is Blue Catapult affiliated with the Democratic Party?

No. Blue Catapult is, in FEC terms, a "Non-connected Political Committee."  We are not affiliated with any party, candidate, labor union or trade organization.  By law, our activities must not be coordinated with such entities.

4. Won't the Democratic Party fund these campaigns?

Well yes and no.  The Democratic Party does fund candidates, but if recent history is any guide, party money often comes in too late to make a difference; that is, only after party officials are satisfied that a challenger has a 'real chance' to win.  In our view, such logic is sometimes self-defeating.  In order to make candidates viable, they need money earlier, not later.  Incumbents are most vulnerable in their first attempt at reelection.  So we also want to help Democratic freshmen facing potentially strong Republican challengers keep their seats, and hence, keep Congress Blue.

5. How will Blue Catapult choose whom to support?

While we do not have any ideological or issue litmus test, we strive to fund candidates who support traditional Democratic ideals.  As for viability, we will fund challengers who have a real campaign organization, that is, a campaign office and some semblance of a campaign operation.  While we would like to fund everyone, we have to focus on those who are running seriously and full time.  The idea is to expand the number of seats in play for the Democrats.

6. How can I help? How can I stay informed?

You can join our cause by making a contribution that will be used to help Democrats challenge Republicans across the country.  You can sign up to be on our mailing list where will we update you on events, activities and candidates we are supporting.  You can tell friends and colleagues about Blue Catapult so that we can build a potent support network.
