Shaheen (Maine) Former Governor Jeanne Shaheen is challenging
Republican incumbent John Sununu.

Burner (WA-8) Darcy is running against incumbent
Republican Dave Reichert in Washington State's 8th Congressional District. Darcy
has worked in the high tech industry, including positions at Microsoft, where
she headed the Microsoft women's organization, Hoppers. She is running on a platform
that includes a Woman's right to choose, investing in the environment, and fully
implementing the recommendations by the 9/11 Commission. Phyllis
Busansky (FL-9) Phyllis a former
Chairman of the Hillsborough County Commission and served as the first Executive
Director of Florida's welfare-to-work agency. She is running for the seat opened
by Mike Bilirakis' retirement and will probably be running against his son. In
1995 Phyllis was named "Public Official of the Year" by Governing Magazine.
She is on the faculty of the School of Public Health at Columbia University where
she teaches a seminar in leadership and coalition building. Chris
Carney (PA-10) VICTORY Chris
is running against Republican Don Sherwood in Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional
District. An Associate Professor at Penn State, Chris is also a Lt. Commander
in the U.S. Naval Reserves and has served overseas. Chris Has a plan to win in
Iraq and leave with honor, explaining that a U.S. battalion should return home
for every Iraqi battalion that is activated. Chris wants to focus our defense
resources on real homeland security, especially front-line responders such as
police and medical personnel. He also supports policies to make the U.S. less
dependent on fossil fuels, and he wants to reform health care so that the 45 million
uninsured Americans will get healthcare benefits. Eric
Massa (NY-29) A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Eric is running
against Republican incumbent John Kuhl in New York's 29th Congressional District.
Eric spent a career in the Navy, serving on nine ships and working during operations
in Beirut and Desert Storm. He was a Special Assistant for Congressional Affairs
for then-Supreme Allied Commander General Wesley Clark. If elected, Eric wants
to give current members of the military and veterans the benefits and compensation
they deserve. He wants to reform Social Security by making sure that those who
are in the system get what they have been promised, and to have higher income
earners pay their fair share into Social Security. Angie
Paccione (CO-4) Currently, Angie is a state
representative who is taking on incumbent Marilyn Musgrave. Musgrave has been
called one of the "13 Most Corrupt Members of Congress" by Citizens
for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). With a PhD in Education, Angie
has dedicated her career to teaching and helping students achieve. In the
Colorado legislature she was the Chair of the Democratic Majority Caucus. Her
legislative achievements include increasing funding for the Colorado College Opportunity
Fund, making health insurance more affordable for returning military personnel,
and helped make mortgages more affordable to Colorado residents. Dan
Seals (IL-10) Dan is challenging Representative
Mark Kirk in one of the congressional districts that voted for John Kerry but
still has a Republican Representative. Dan is a graduate of both the Johns Hopkins
School of Advanced International Studies, where he received his M.A. in International
Economics, and the University of Chicago where he earned his MBA. Dan worked for
the Department of Commerce as a Presidential Management Fellow. More recently
Dan worked in the business world, taking management positions for Sprint and GE
Financial Services. Jerry McNerney (CA-11)
VICTORY Jerry will take on Representative
Richard Pombo in California's 11th Congressional District. Jerry is highlighting
his record as an engineer in developing alternative energy sources against Pombo
who has one of the worst environmental records in Congress -- a problem compounded
by the fact that he is the Chairman of the House Energy and Resources Committee.
Jerry has even picked up the endorsements of district Republicans, including former
Representative Pete McCloskey who challenged Pombo in the primary. Jerry's expertise
as a businessman and alternative energy consultant will help serve both his district
and the nation well. John Cranley (OH-1) John
Cranley is running in Ohio's First Congressional District against Republican incumbent
Steve Chabot. While Chabot is known as one of President Bush's most loyal minions,
John Cranley is known for co-founding the Ohio Innocence Project. When John Cranley
became Finance Chairman on the Cincinnati City Council, he inherited a city deficit
of $35 Million. Cranley rose to the challenge and for five consecutive years has
balanced city budgets with bipartisan support while reducing property taxes and
putting more cops on the street. Victoria Wulsin
(OH-2) Dr. Victoria Wulsin is challenging Jean Schmidt in Ohio's Second
Congressional District. Vic was Cincinnati's city epidemiologist, where she fought
deadly outbreaks of disease like whooping cough and influenza. She directed a
health literacy program in Adams County, OH, and she is chair of the free Health
Resource Clinic. Vic is a uniformed member of the U.S. public health service,
and Most recently she founded SOTENI International, a non-profit organization
dedicated to preventing HIV and AIDS among orphans in Kenya . Her medical work
has taken her to over 20 countries. Dr. Wulsin is looking to replace "Mean
Jean's" ideological extremism with her own experience and pragmatism. Larry
Grant (ID-1) Larry served as Vice-President and first-general
counsel for Micron Technologies from 1985-1995. He then worked for VLSI Technologies
in Silicon Valley before retiring and returning to Idaho. Larry is a member of
the board of directors of the Frank Church Institute at Boise State University.
He also previously served as a director of Western Idaho Training Company in Caldwell,
Idaho, which provides employment opportunities for people with disabilities, and
as a member of the advisory council to the University of Idaho School of Business.
He will bring his pragmatic, business approach along with his belief in fairness
for all to the halls of Congress. Larry lives in Fruitland, Idaho, with his wife
of 39 years, Pam Howe Grant. They have a son, Ron, and two grandsons. |
